dust off the old telescope

this weekend was pretty good. friday and saturday we pulled down the telescope. it has not been used in 4 years and i was wondering if i could even put it together.

it worked out pretty good though.









it is a celestron telescope. it is similiar to the C6-NHD, part of the celestron advanced series. i hacked the viewfinder to quadruple the capable magnification. fine tuning the focus was painful because the range of motion exceeded the units needed to really get what i wanted.







no matter, the girls got see the moon like they have never seen before. i got some pictures of the moon as best i could.





i could pick up some debris and other interesting stuff. i will tweak it some more and get some new pics up after i do.

whats in the bag update

well, if you have not been playing golf already this season you are missing out on some sweet scores. thats my take on the clubs i have been breaking in.

memorial day i posted about the Mizuno MP-32's that i bought. i want to update that post.

the clubs are great. i moved off some taylor made firesole clubs. they were a really light cavity back, graphite shaft club. it was like a sling shot though. i could smash the ball 50 yards longer than anyone else but there was no guarantee on where the ball would end up.

i learned to play around the graphite shafts instead of learning a "golf" swing.

that has changed.

the Mizuno MP-32's are metal shafts and a "cut" muscle back. it took me a few range trips to regain a feel for my swing, so i thought. the funny thing is that the Mizuno's are a well built club for a low handicap player. if you cannot hit the sweet spot and play the ball then save your money for a pretty bag.

my swing, textbook wise, has increased in mechanics because that is the only way to get a pure shot out of the mizuno mp-32 clubs.

there is no comparison in terms of accuracy. these are the best i have seen so far. not to mention at every club i have played from Oahu to Dallas at least one person stops in the middle of the course to check them out and ask about them. i cannot tell you how many people that I have played with hit them a couple of holes, love them, then call me and tell me they went and got them a week later. im serious. one guy i play with, scratch golfer, stopped in at the club house after playing the front 9 and bought a set to finish out the back 9. think that is a testament?

here is a test you can try to find the irons that you will love.

i set up a target, about 100 yds away. then pull out your 100 yd club. next, hit 20 balls at the target, attempting your best to use the same exact swing on each. record where your balls land and then try the mizuno's.

my mp-32's are laser guided compared to the old taylor mades. i would say 90% accuracy within a 15 yard radius compared to 50%.

so, next i will touch on golf balls, fairway woods, drivers, and my favorite tool in the bag - the putter! i got a scotty cameron that is almost to sweet to play with.

any mizuno owners let me know what you think about the 32's. i am curious to see who else has seen this with the clubs.
