dustin, in the middle, getting up in the surf chasing my heels.

surf gear and all. well, i look ready. thanks to Quicksilver for the hawaii gear.

a beautiful day for the beach. ...surfing... there is lots of waiting in surfing during this time of the year in hawaii. these waves of up to 6 ft today are small in comparison to the 40ft+ waves that will be crashing into the north shore some time this winter. i will return then to try or die :) one cool thing about the waiting is that you get to listen to the locals, meet some interesting people, observe sea turtles the size of bumper cars swim right up to you, and catch a tan.

paddle boy

work out, yes sir

ok. if you cannot tell already, i did a lot of surfing waikiki beach. this is todays theme.

the "herd"

this dude was really good. he would ride almost every wave he could get out to. the thing is he could paddle out so fast he was catching wave after wave. surfing is a lot like sales. once you close the deal, that is only half the battle - now you have to deliver. same here, once you are out there *finally* you have to give it 110% to set a wave.

dustin

rip it

this wave was one of the best swell sets that day. everyone got a good one during this 5 minutes

pretty cool shot with the boat just off the beach

swimming on the crest, trying to catch another chance at this wave

the "herd"

waiting

dustin, out there, waiting

surfing or drowing? after 3 hours i was dead.

The bay over Diamond Head

overlook the bay off Diamond Head

the top was off. the wind was nice. this was a nice touch. loved the jeep.

ok. well, no hawaii vacation would be ok without completely maximizing your exposure to the sun.

the cave into Diamond Head, the volcano turned military dream come true. there is a really cool military base dug into this baby. i swear, it is like the bases we used to draw as kids - right out of a comic book.

cheeseburger in paradise. really. right on the waikiki strip. not only did they have great burgers but they had DR. PEPPER, which is rare down in Hawaii.
