red alert, what you can really expect from China's surge of power.

Well, I think that this is pretty interesting and probably will not receive a ton of press in the US.

If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China's territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu.

"If the Americans are determined to interfere [then] we will be determined to respond,” said Gen Zhu, who is also a professor at China's National Defence University.

quick pics from last night.

plant some seeds

last year, one of Amber's first home sales was to a great family from plainview. their son was going to attend med school at texas tech so they wanted a place for him to live.

they were farmers in plainview.

the house they bought ended up being right down the street from us. it was a nice thing! as a farmer, the dad loved to share his pride and joy, fresh produce.

every time he would visit his son he would drop off 4, 5, 6 watermelons at a time. fresh from the vine. at one point we had like 10 HUGE watermelons ready to eat.

so, each weekend I would put a watermelon in a cooler with tons of ice. we would grill out in the backyard and then sit around and cut open the watermelon. we would put one away.

then the winter came, no more melons, and no more BBQ.

then the spring came, lots of yardwork to do. and thats when i saw these little fellers; watermelon seedlings. now they are growing like mad and we are hoping to get at least one melon from them.

amber spoke to the farmer yesterday and told them about it. they havent been by this summer. i am hoping that when they come by we can return the favor and give him a watermelon. better yet, we are going to give a few to our friends and family and tell them the story on where these came from and hopefully start a new tradition or some chain.

green giants

the girls have been very busy tending to their gardens. we have a few projects in process that have really turned out pretty good.

first is their little garden in the back yard. i dug out a 8x8 corner and let them plant corn, carrots, beans, and lettuce.

trying to get them to plant seeds in an organized fashion was not happening.

so, check it out. it is all jumbled together but it is doing good.
